Incorporating a charity into an estate plan is a great way to continue giving after you have passed. It can be a rewarding endeavor that will help make a difference. A lot of the time, people think of loved ones as beneficiaries, but a beneficiary can be any person or entity one chooses to leave money to, including nonprofit organizations. Making a charity a beneficiary typically involves naming the charity as a recipient of assets in your will, trust, or other estate planning documents. To do this, you will need to follow these general guidelines.
Something to keep in mind, it would be wise to make your family informed and/or other beneficiaries so that no one is caught off guard upon your passing. This way, a delay in executing the will does not hold up the charitable gift.
If you’d like to leave Treasure Coast Wild Life Center as your beneficiary, we would greatly appreciate that. Please contact Susie Nash by emailing her at
